Interactive Workshops for Students

Elements of Design
is a new program designed to introduce young people to the mechanics of creating a theatrical production. Leading theatre practitioners will share secrets of the trade and provide opportunities for hands-on, interactive experiences

Our December workshops are now full!

Wardrobe & Costuming
Costumes are a key component of the audience’s impression of a character. Students will discover how silhouettes are transformed into wardrobe pieces for the stage.

Props Building
Anything not part of the set structure or worn by an actor is a prop. Students will create their own unique item using craft skills and ingenuity.

Set Construction
The set creates the space where the actors turn a script in a vibrant world. The secrets of transforming sketches into structures will be revealed.

Scenic Painting
Scenic painters turn blank walls and empty backdrops into the world of our imagination. Students will practice painting techniques to transform a blank canvas into a rich landscape of texture and colour.

Enrollment in these complimentary workshops can be arranged through Melanie Wickes, Education & Groups Manager, at mwickes@vancouverplayhouse.com or 604 637 3094.
